The Parish of Southwick

Draft Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Tuesday 17th May 2022 at 7.00 pm in the Village Hall, Southwick.

Present: Cllr J Eaton (Chair), Cllr P Snell, Cllr C Watson, Cllr K Noble, Cllr D Jackson, Cllr S Carey, Cllr S Porter, Cllr J Heydon, Cllr T Curry and Cllr H Prickett.

In attendance: Nicola Duke (Parish Clerk).

1.  The Chairman of the Parish Council welcomed those present to the meeting.

2.  The Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on 18th May 2021 were approved and adopted (proposed Cllr Prickett, seconded Cllr Jackson).

3.  The Chairman of the Parish Council reported on the PC activities during 2021-22 and a copy of his report is appended to the minutes.

4.  The Parish Clerk provided a statement on the Annual Accounts of the Parish Council for FY 2021-2022, confirming that the accounts were currently with the internal auditor and that the adoption of the accounts was listed as an agenda item for the June PC meeting:

5.  Wiltshire Council Councillor Horace Prickett reported that the Annual Council Meeting of Wiltshire Council had been held and the Chair and Vice-Chair re-elected. It was noted that County Hall staff were still not back to capacity following covid, with many officers continuing to work from home. Cllr Prickett reported that traffic counts had been established across the Westbury – Southwick – West Ashton – North Bradley area and the figures from those counts would be available shortly.  It was noted that these counts were associated with the work being undertaken by those Councils regarding proposals for a relief road.

6.  Reports from local organisations:

  • It was noted that the AGM of the Social Club was scheduled for 13th June 2022 at 6.00 pm.

7.  Other matters raised by those present:

  • Concern was expressed at the 20% increase in the cost of the WC green bins and it was agreed that the Clerk would write to WC accordingly and copy Cllr Prickett in to the correspondence.
  • Cllr Snell reported on two potential planning enforcement issues, which she had raised with Wiltshire Council; an extension at Wesley Close and a boundary extension at Blind Lane.  It was confirmed that the latter extension was in line with the property boundary.
